The Artist Website Asset Checklist

High-Res Hero Image: Your “strongest” piece of art for the homepage (1920px wide is ideal).

The “Starter 6” Gallery: Select 6–10 images of your best work.

Pro-tip: Save them as .jpg or .png with titles like artist-name-artwork-title.jpg for an instant SEO boost.

Profile Photo: A clear, high-quality headshot or a photo of you in your studio.

The “Artist Bio” (Short): A 150-word version of who you are and what drives your work.

Artist Statement: A deeper dive into your medium, process, and philosophy.

Contact Info: A professional email address and (optional) your studio location or city.

Stuck on your bio? Don’t worry. Our bio templates come with ‘Fill-in-the-Blanks’ prompts to help you write a professional artist statement in minutes.

Best for: “About Me” pages, press releases, and gallery submissions.

“[Artist Name] is a [Location]-based artist specializing in [Medium/Style, e.g., oil painting, digital illustration]. With a focus on [Core Theme, e.g., urban landscapes, floral textures], their work explores the intersection of [Concept A] and [Concept B].

[Artist Name] began their journey in [Year or Life Stage] and has since [Major Achievement, e.g., exhibited in local galleries, built a following of 5k on Instagram]. They are currently working on a series inspired by [Current Inspiration] and welcome inquiries at [Email Address].”

Best for: Homepage intros and social media profiles. It feels more intimate.

“I create [Type of Art] because I am fascinated by [What Motivates You]. My process involves [One Unique Thing About How You Work], which allows me to capture the [Feeling/Emotion] of my subjects.

Through my work, I hope to [Goal for the Viewer, e.g., spark a conversation about nature, bring a sense of calm to your home]. When I’m not in the studio, you can find me [Personal Hobby/Detail] in [City/State].”

Artist SEO Tip: When filling in your “Medium,” use specific terms people search for, like “Contemporary Abstract Oil Paintings” instead of just “Art.” Google loves specifics!

Social Handles: Links to your Instagram, Behance, or LinkedIn profiles.

Domain Info: If you already own a domain (e.g., yourname.com), have your login credentials for your registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) ready.

External Shop Links: If you sell on Etsy, ArtStation, or Artnbuff Galleria, have those URLs ready to link to your “Shop” button.

Exported Blog Posts: If you are moving from Wix or Squarespace, export your blog as an XML file. We can help you import these into WordPress so you don’t lose your history.
